The Old Testament evidence for the eternity of Christ is both direct and indirect. In the messianic prophecy, Christ is spoken of as a child to be born in Bethlehem “whose going forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2). Many of the Old Testament books talk of his deity. In Isaiah 9:6, Christ is declared to be not only “Mighty God” but also “The everlasting Father”. The eternity of Christ is frequently stated in the New Testament in even more definite terms than in the Old Testament.
